Good evening, Martin Ram families. This is Principal Tom Wheeler with a weekend update and a look at the week coming up.
Before I get started with my calendar items for this week, I want to share with you an added feature to go along with this phone call. It often happens that I hear parents and families state that this phone call got cut off in the middle, or it was too long for voice mail, and part of the message has been missed. Starting tomorrow morning, you can go to the Martin Elementary School website and read the script for this message. It will be linked to the top of the website under the heading “Sunday Call”. All you do is click on the link and there it is. That way, you can pick up anything that you might have missed. Normally, it won’t show up until Monday mornings. The current date will be at the top of the message so you know if you are reading the right one. I hope you can find this extra feature useful.
This week, we have a lot of little things going on. Let’s start out with a PTA Fundraiser. Our PTA will be selling bags of Texas Roadhouse Peanuts. The bags of peanuts sell for $5.00, but along with that, you get a discount card that saves you $7.99 on an appetizer. That sounds like a pretty good deal to me. We are asking that anyone able, sell 10 bags of peanuts. Of course, any student that does sell those will get a prize for doing so. We sent home permission slips to see who would be interested. If you didn’t see the permission slip but want to help out, just send in a handwritten note. All the proceeds from this fund-raiser, like all of our PTA stuff, goes right back to the school and the kids.
Now on to my calendar items for this week.
For any student participating in Math Field Day, there will be practice for that on both Tuesday and Thursday this week, November 19th and 21st after school at the normal times.
We have two field trips on our calendar for this week. First up, tomorrow, Monday, November 18th our 1st graders will be headed over to Blennerhassett Elementary School to see a performance called Welcome to Zakland. Zakland is a lively and interactive show where music and imagination come together. This sounds like a fun trip.
On Tuesday, November 19th, our 4th graders will be making the trek over to Blennerhassett Elementary to see a concert by the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra. A memorable trip for sure.
On Thursday, November 21st, A group of students from Edison Middle School Student Council and National Junior Honor Society will be coming over to do Thanksgiving activities with our kindergarten students. We appreciate this outreach from Edison and it is nice to see them giving back our school and our students.
Finally, On Friday, November 22nd, our 4th grade is hosting parents and families for our Fabulous Fall Festivities. It begins at noon that day and carries on into the afternoon. Look for more information to come home on that this week.
Before I end for this evening, let’s talk about Thanksgiving week. At the end of the school day on Friday, November 22nd, there will not be school again until Monday, December 2nd. Because there is no school next week, you won’t get another phone call from me until Sunday, December 1st.
I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and have to some time to spend with families and friends. We have a lot to be thankful for. I certainly appreciate all of you. Thanks for taking the time listen to me. I’ll talk to you again in a couple of weeks, but I will see you bright and early tomorrow morning.
And remember…Martin Rams are always climbing.
